Safety Tips For Prom-Goers

This is one of the most memorable nights for your high school senior – going to the prom. We know the work that is involved in getting everything lined up and ready so that our kids look their best and have everything reserved as needed.

Here are some safety tips for the big night (http://goo.gl/It7Qr)":
  • In regards to accessories, car keys should not be carried by any teenager. Car crashes seem to increase late at night on prom night. Also, every teen should have phone numbers where they can reach their parents throughout the night. Large amounts of money don’t need to be in wallets or purses (since prom is paid for, why would they need extra money?)
  • Have them take a camera to the prom and catch all of those special moments and memories. They should not be taking any drugs or alcohol to the prom, and remind them of the consequences if they do and were to get caught.
  • A parent’s expectations should be set before sending off their child. They should be contacted whenever they go from one place to another. Make them aware that you can pick them up if they feel like they aren’t safe. They should also be responsible for the friends that they are spending the night with. And wherever they stay that night, house rules should apply and be respected, even if it’s a friends’ house.
